Specialty coffee roasters — Portland, OR
Nine Acres is a small roastery that follows every bean from hillside farm to final pour. Scroll, and come along for the journey.
High on the terraces of Huila, our partner farms grow coffee the slow way — shade, altitude, and patience doing most of the work.
Cherries are picked by hand at peak ripeness, one pass at a time, so only the sweetest fruit ever leaves the tree.
Back in Portland, we roast in nine-kilo batches, chasing the exact moment each origin turns from grassy to golden.
Water at 94°, a slow spiral pour, thirty seconds of bloom. Small rituals that turn good beans into a great cup.
The last step is yours. Sit down, wrap your hands around something warm, and taste the whole journey at once.
Our philosophy
“Coffee is a crop long before it is a cup.”
Nine Acres started with a single question: what would a roastery look like if it treated farmers like partners and customers like neighbours? Ten years on, this page is still how we answer it.
We buy from nine family farms and pay above fair-trade rates, every season, no exceptions.
Nine kilos at a time, never more, so every roast gets our full attention.
We'd rather make you wait two extra minutes than hand you a cup we're not proud of.
